WELCOME TO NATIVE MARINE CENTRE

OUR STORY

Native Marine Centre (NMC) was originally set up by Mike Webb to responsibly source indigenous marine animal and plant specimens for sea life centres, aquariums and research institutes in the UK and Europe. While sourcing wild fish for the cleaner fish industry (wrasses and lumpfish), NMC formed a relationship with Mowi (formerly Marine Harvest) the Norwegian salmon farming group and together with consultant Richard Prickett, they jointly developed the first lumpfish hatchery in the UK.

In 2018, together with several local partners they started a company producing seaweed and shellfish in Portland Port.

NMC are interested in assisting or joining forces with any serious parties wanting to develop aquaculture in land based recirculation systems or in the open sea.
